São Paulo bus companies project a 20% growth in passenger volume for the next Carnival compared to the 2019 holiday, before the pandemic.
According to the expectations of Setpesp (sector association), more than 550 thousand passengers should pass through the bus terminals of Barra Funda, Jabaquara and Tietê between the 17th and 19th of February.
The most popular destinations are the coastal region, the Paraíba Valley and the interior.
Setpesp attributes the increase to factors such as the high price of airline tickets and the cost of tolls and fuel in private cars, in addition to the repressed demand of the pandemic.
