The Minister of Environment & Energy, Kostas Skrekas, emphasized that the results of the government policy, as shown by the January HEPI table, for substantial consumer support have taken on permanent characteristics.

Greece continues to record one of the cheapest electricity retail prices in Europe for January, the Ministry of Environment and Energy points out on the occasion of the publication of the pan-European HEPI (Household Energy Price Index) index for the previous month.

The figures published by the pan-European HEPI (Household Energy Price Index) show that the government’s policy in this matter continues to produce tangible results for Greek consumers”, emphasizes the Ministry of the Interior. “In January in our country, the average price per kilowatt hour was 24.16 cents, well below the European average for variable tariffs, which is 36.45 cents. For another month we are much cheaper even than countries with mature energy markets, such as Italy (60.4 cents), Great Britain (46.6 cents), Germany (35.93 cents), etc.»

The Minister of Environment & Energy, Kostas Skrekas, made the following statement: “The results of government policy, as shown in the January HEPI table, for substantial consumer support, safeguarding social cohesion and energy sufficiency at affordable prices, have taken on permanent features. For many months in a row, Greece has had one of the cheapest retail electricity prices in all of Europe, despite the fact that the war in Ukraine continues and market volatility lingers. We will continue resolutely for as long as this crisis lasts, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has pledged before Greek men and women, the policy we follow and the results of which can be seen in the HEPI tables, but mainly in the accounts of Greek consumers».
