The government will modify the support measures in one direction or another depending on the developments in public health, the Minister of Labor, Kostis Hatzidakis, pointed out to SKAI.
“We are talking about some contract suspensions, these are the measures we have been used to taking for the last year and a half. They focus on activities that are affected by the restrictions imposed by the government (bars, shops, restaurants, etc.). For each employee who is suspended, 534 euros will be paid, provided that the employee will not be fired. “This will apply to those employees who have concluded an employment contract until you want the specific measure to be announced,” he said.
Secondly, the Minister of Labor noted that the “Cooperation” program (concerning air transport companies, airport) is being extended, which the state covers a part of the operating costs as these activities have been particularly affected, and this measure is extended until the end of March. “There is a special measure for musicians, we will also have rolling hours in the private sector in addition to the existing retail, after employer-employee agreements so that employees do not come to MMM at the same time.”
He also explained that in cases where it may be possible, in cases such as banks and insurance companies, there is a provision for teleworking up to 50% after consultations that will be made in the company.
Minimum wage
For the minimum wage, Kostis Hatzidakis pledged that employees will see in their pockets a social development dividend. He explained that an additional increase will be given in the first half of 2022, as the Prime Minister has stated. “The process will start early in the year so that decisions can be made as soon as possible, weighing the resilience of the economy,” he said. “We do not claim the monopoly of social sensitivity, but we also do not give the monopoly of social sensitivity to anyone,” he remarked.
Outstanding pensions
Regarding pensions, the minister said that “in 2019 we had 130,000 decisions for retirement, they rose to 161,000 in 2020. This year we will go to 225,000 record decisions far from all seasons of EFKA”. “There are still outstanding issues, but we have laid the foundations to resolve this issue by the end of the 2022 semester,” he assured.
