In terms of tax evasion, we are approaching the European average, but we need to do more, the finance minister told SKAI 100.3 and Nikos Andritsos Christos Staikouras.

He noted that important tools in the fight against tax evasion are the electronic interconnection of cash registers and the creation of the my data platform.

The minister emphasized that the European and Greek economies are facing unprecedented crises after the health crisis. He noted that the war in Ukraine had a serious impact mainly on the energy side, and this has spilled over into food

Regarding inflation, the minister emphasized that the last 6 months in our country has remained stable, however we cannot celebrate with an inflation of 6-7%. Mr. Staikouras estimated that the costs for households and businesses will remain high in 2023 as well.

Referring to the support of households and businesses, the minister emphasized that many tools have been created to help mainly vulnerable households, such as the out-of-court mechanism, the financing by banks of 50% of the increase in the monthly installments of the loans of vulnerable borrowers, but also the regulation of 36-72 installments to be deposited.

Commenting on the criticism received by the government for the measures it has taken for vulnerable borrowers and the comparison with the Katseli law, he emphasized that they were effectively trapped, they did not escape any debt, but it was postponed to the future and inflated.

The minister observed that the government also supports consistent citizens both with the Bridge program and with the refundable advance, and for them the regulation of 36-72 installments is created, which concerns the debts created from 2021, i.e. the citizens who have been consistent in their payments yet are struggling due to the current punctuality crisis.
