by

By Gogos Katseli

The platform opens today mobilefees.gov.gr for the submission of applications by citizens aged 15-29 in order to enjoy the complete abolition of mobile telephony charges whether they are contracts or prepaid.

The procedure that young people must follow to abolish the fee includes submitting a statement through gov.gr to the Register of Applications for Beneficiaries of Exemption from Mobile Telephony.

However, if the beneficiary is a minor, the declaration must be submitted by the parent or guardian.

The entry in the Register is done with the Taxisnet codes of the beneficiary or the parent when it is a minor.

The benefit for consumers

As of December 31, the excise tax on mobile telephony was at 12% for bills up to 50 euros, at 15% for bills from 50.01 to 100 euros, at 18% from 100.01 to 150 euros and at 20% from 150 , 01 euros and above, the benefit of the new measure ranges between 2% and 10% for the total of each monthly bill and for all consumers.

Thus, for example, a citizen whose mobile plan was at 50 euros per month, with a 12% tax paid 56 euros and together with VAT reached 69.44 euros. From this month, the final bill for young people up to 29 years old, including VAT, for the respective program, will not exceed 62 euros.

Respectively, someone whose basic fixed asset is at 100 euros and together with the 15% tax and VAT, is set at 142.6 euros, with the abolition of the tax he will pay 124 euros.

The benefit is even greater for citizens with more expensive packages. Indicatively, a subscriber with a basic charge of 150 euros, who currently pays 219.48 euros, including tax and VAT, with the new regime, will pay just 186 euros.

For a mobile phone user whose fixed fee is 170 euros and together with 20% tax and VAT, it reaches 252.96 euros, from this month his account will not exceed 210.8 euros.

It is noted from this month that mobile and prepaid telephony will be cheaper for citizens over 30 years of age, as the new, uniform and fixed mobile and prepaid telephony fee of 10% came into force. The new mobile and prepaid telephony charges apply automatically, for every mobile connection belonging to a natural person, without requiring any action on the part of the citizen.
