Alckmin indicates concern about Lula’s speech on labor reform

by

Quoted for vice president of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for the presidency, ex-governor Geraldo Alckmin (without a party) expressed concern about the proposal to revoke the labor reform taken up by PT sectors.

At breakfast this Monday (10) with the national president of Solidarity, federal deputy Paulo Pereira da Silva (SP), “Paulinho da Força”, Alckmin asked for information about the revocation of points of the labor reform in Spain and wanted to know the opinion of the union centrals on the subject.

According to Paulinho, Alckmin said that there is apprehension in the market about the possibility of reviewing the labor reform conducted by former president Michel Temer (MDB). The former governor also asked the deputy to send him material on the subject, as a suggestion for amendments.

In the conversation, Paulinho made official the invitation for Alckmin to join Solidarity, where, according to the president of the party, the former toucan would have complete freedom and could compose the ticket with Lula.

The perception of Alckmin’s interlocutors is that he abandoned once and for all the idea of running for the Government of São Paulo and has aimed at the national level, talking about country issues, such as unemployment and isolation in relation to other countries.

Also according to Paulinho, Alckmin’s understanding is that the so-called third way has no chance in the election — which must be decided between Lula and President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). With Alckmin vice president, PT’s victory could come in the first round in the evaluation of the former governor’s allies.

The movement to unite Alckmin and Lula came from the PSB, which would affiliate the former toucan and is studying forming a federation with the PT in the 2022 election. For that, however, the parties would have to unify candidates for governor in five states.

The most difficult scenario is that of São Paulo, where Márcio França (PSB) and Fernando Haddad (PT) are running for governor.

The meeting with Paulinho signals that Alckmin does not depend on affiliation to the PSB to compose the ticket with Lula —Solidarity and PV are also options, especially in a context in which negotiations between PT and PSB are locked in the face of the São Paulo impasse.

Paulinho argued that the PSB has used negotiations with the former governor of São Paulo to demand PT support from its candidates for state governments. Alckmin admitted the possibility of joining Solidarity. But he made no reply.

“Here [no Solidariedade], Alckmin would not be used as a bargaining chip,” he said.

According to Paulinho, Alckmin did not mention the recent demonstrations by Lula and the PT president, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), in favor of the Spanish government’s initiative, which revoked the local labor reform.

On the 4th, Lula published a post on the networks stating that it is “important for Brazilians to closely follow what is happening in the labor reform in Spain, where President Pedro Sanchez is working to recover workers’ rights.”

“Alckmin said he is concerned about the discussion that has arisen in recent days about the repeal of the labor reform”, says Paulinho.

In response, the former president of Força Sindical stated that the centrals do not defend the repeal of the reform, but the regulation of the possibility of fixing, in assembly, the value of union contribution by category.

For Paulinho, there should be freedom of negotiation between unions and employers’ representations —the value of the contribution would be established in assemblies. “Revoking the reform does not please us, we think it is not necessary,” he said.

Alckmin said he was worried about the economic crisis, going so far as to point out the existence of homeless people even in Pindamonhangaba (SP), his hometown.

In Spain, the new reform, also called “counter-reform”, reviews changes made in 2012 that would have boosted the precariousness of working conditions in the country.

Among the measures, it extinguishes contracts for works, limits temporary contracts (which correspond to about 25% of jobs in the country) and establishes stricter rules in outsourcing.

report of leaf showed that four years after the entry into force of the labor reform, completed in November, the balance is a drop in the number of lawsuits in the Labor Court, but the number of jobs announced by the government at the time was just a promise.
