The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) welcomes the new year with a renewed mood. In the coming months, as we move towards the heart of winter, it hosts a diverse program that caters to all ages and all tastes and is realized thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN).
The curtain of “Cosmos” concerts opens with one of the most creative and innovative artists of contemporary music, the German producer and composer Christian Löffler, who meets in the Stavros Niarchos Hall the leading ensemble of contemporary music in Greece, the Ergon Ensemble, for a unique live (24/01) that will unite two seemingly diverse worlds.
Favorite events return with new cycles being inaugurated at this time.
The successful series of music events “Lighthouse Sessions” continues for the second year at the Lighthouse of the SNFCC. Composer and drummer Alexandros Drakos Ktistakis invites artists from a wide range of the domestic music scene to a musical dialogue open to improvisation and experimental mood. His first guests were the composer Nikos Xydakis (23/01) and the songwriter Orfeas Peridis (13/02).
“Violations”, the Theatrical Analogy of the SNFCC, returns for the fifth year. Three directors of the new generation deal with three theatrical texts-stations that focus on motherhood and human emotional development, as it is inextricably linked to the primary experience. The premiere will take place in February with the masterpiece of Eugene O’Neill, “Mourning fits Electra” directed by Georgia Mavragani. They are followed by “Father” by August Strindberg directed by Maria Maganari and “Alkistis” by Euripides directed by Elena Mavridou.
Until 27/02, the National Library of Greece (NBG), in collaboration with the SNFCC, presents the exhibition entitled “The printing presses of the Greek Revolution”, highlighting the role of printing in the critical years of the Revolution of 1821.
Finally, aspiring skaters swirl on the ice at the SNFCC Ice Rink (until 02/06), while reading clubs (children, teens and adults), sports programs and workshops continue throughout the winter, waiting for the public to discover them.
