The country’s trade deficit increased by 1.3% in March this year, while the percentage increase in the value of exports and imports was almost equal.

In particular, from ELSTAT’s data on commodity transactions, the following emerges:

The total value of import-arrivals amounted to 7,384.0 million euros compared to 7,090.2 million euros in March 2022, showing an increase of 4.1% (without oil products it showed an increase of 168.1 million euros or 3, 2%, while without oil products and ships it showed an increase of 156.0 million euros or 3%).

The total value of exports-shipments amounted to 4,800.8 million euros compared to 4,540.3 million euros in March 2022, showing an increase of 5.7% (excluding petroleum products showed an increase of 406.5 million euros or 13% , while without oil products and ships it showed an increase of 399.8 million euros or 12.8%).

The trade balance deficit amounted to 2,583.2 million euros compared to 2,549.9 million euros in March 2022, showing an increase of 1.3% (without petroleum products it showed a decrease of 238.4 million euros or 11%, while without the petroleum products and ships showed a decrease of 243.8 million euros or 11.3%).

In the first quarter of this year, the total value of import-arrivals amounted to 20,933.9 million euros compared to 20,554.2 million euros in the same period of 2022, showing an increase of 1.8% (without petroleum products, it showed an increase of 307 .5 million euros or 2.1%, while without petroleum products and ships it showed an increase of 282.2 million euros or 1.9%).

The total value of exports-shipments amounted to 13,713.3 million euros compared to 11,640.2 million euros in the first quarter of 2022, showing an increase of 17.8% (excluding petroleum products showed an increase of 1,057.5 million euros or 12.7%, while the value excluding petroleum products and ships showed an increase of 1,001.1 million euros or 12.1%).

The trade balance deficit amounted to 7,220.6 million euros compared to 8,914.0 million euros in the first quarter of 2022, showing a decrease of 19% (without oil products it showed a decrease of 750.0 million euros or 12%, while without petroleum products and ships showed a decrease of 718.9 million euros or 11.6%).
