The Federal Public Ministry charged the National Treasury to refund to the FDD (Diffuse Rights Defense Fund) an amount exceeding R$ 3 billion improperly transferred.
The fund, from the Ministry of Justice, aims to return to the population amounts collected from court convictions and fines, directed to projects that restore the historical and artistic heritage, damage to the environment, the consumer and other collective interests.
According to prosecutor José Rubens Plates, the resources were used to reduce the fiscal deficit scenario as if they came from primary collection, instead of its destination. The agency gave 45 days to respond.
Sought by Panel SA, the National Treasury states that it was notified of the recommendation of the Federal Public Ministry on Thursday (4) and that it will manifest itself within the deadline. At the moment, the matter is under analysis.
