Panel SA: Public Ministry investigates IPHAN action on Havan store in historic center

The Federal Public Ministry opened an investigation last week to investigate Iphan’s role in authorizing a Havan store project in the historic center of Blumenau (SC).

The organ points out the architectural features of the enterprise, which are out of step with the urban environment of the surroundings, and may impact two heritage sites in the city, the Lutheran Church of Espírito Santo and the Museum of the Colonial Family.

The stores of the Bolsonarista businessman Luciano Hang simulate the facade of the White House and with a replica of the Statue of Liberty on the door.

When contacted by the SA Panel, Iphan and Havan did not respond.

This is not the first episode involving Hang stores and Iphan (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional). The agency is a constant target of attacks by President Jair Bolsonaro, who admitted to having exonerated servers for the benefit of the businessman.

Another chain store, opened in July last year in the city of Rio Grande (RS), became famous in early 2020, when Bolsonaro said that Iphan would have stopped the work because a “petrified Indian poop” was found on the ground. . They were archaeological discoveries.

The case returned to the news last year, when Bolsonaro changed the presidency of the organ.

Last month, the MPF even asked for the removal of the president of Iphan, Larissa Dutra, after the release of a video in which Bolsonaro said (to an audience of businessmen at Fiesp who applauded him) that the appointments he makes to the organ of the patrimony are intended to “do not give headaches”.
