Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” was on an upward trajectory last month, up 19.8% compared to 2022 levels, with passengers reaching 2.92 million.
According to AIA statistics, Athens Airport’s passenger traffic during June 2023 reached 2.92 million, up 19.8% compared to 2022 levels, but also increased by 11.7% compared to the pre-pandemic year 2019. Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2022 levels by 16.9% and 21.2% respectively.
Compared to 2019, both domestic and international passengers increased by 16.3% and 9.7% respectively.
Overall, during the first six months of the year, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 12.07 million, up 34.5% compared to 2022, but also up 7.2% compared to 2019. In detail, both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2022 levels by 26.5% and 38.5% respectively, while also showing an increase compared to 2019, by 9.8% and 6% respectively.

The number of flights at Athens International Airport during the first six months of 2023 reached 105,607, recording an increase of 15.5% compared to 2022 and 4.6% compared to 2019 levels. Both domestic flights and international flights increased by 9.1% and 21.1% compared to 2022, while they also increased compared to 2019 by 8.2% and 2% respectively.
