Stock prices were under strong pressure today, with the market falling below 1,300 points, approaching, intra-sessionally, critical technical support points. Liquidations started with banking stocks and spread to all sectors.

The General Price Index closed at 1,286.86 points, down 2.01%.
Intra-session recorded a lower price at 1,281.88 points (-2.39%). On a weekly basis, the main stock market index recorded losses of 2.48%, since the beginning of August it has fallen by 3.64%, while since the beginning of 2023 it has recorded gains of 38.40%.
The value of transactions amounted to 103.74 million euros, while 25,265,872 shares were traded. The large-cap index fell 2.07%, while the mid-cap index fell 2.00%.
Of the high capitalization stocks, only the share of Motor Oil (+0.09%) registered a marginal increase, while Aegean closed unchanged. On the contrary, the biggest fall was recorded by the shares of Terna Energy (-4.71%), Ellaktor (-4.65%), National National (-4.04%), PPC (-3.32%), Viohalco (-3.22%), Titan (-3.03%) and Alpha Bank (-2.98%).
Piraeus Bank’s share is included in the MSCI Standard index, as announced by the bank in its six-monthly review, with which it also downgrades Terna Energy to Small Cap. The MSCI Standard Greece index includes the shares: OTE, OPAP, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Ethniki, Mytilene, Jumbo, PPC, Motor Oil and Piraeus.
All individual indices closed with a fall and the biggest losses were recorded by the indices of Utilities (-3.46%), Raw Materials (-3.14%) and Trade (-3.03%). The largest volume of transactions was presented by Piraeus and Alpha Bank, trading 6,192,555 and 5,720,160 shares, respectively. The highest value of transactions was recorded by Piraeus with 20.93 million euros and PPC with 10.53 million euros. 10 stocks moved up, 99 fell and 12 remained stable.
The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Frigoglass +8.26% and Akritas +7.96%. The biggest drop was registered by the shares: Chaidemenos -8.39% and Xylemporia (p) -6.54%.
