Share prices closed slightly lower in the last session of August, as investors took controlled profit-taking.

The turnover jumped to high levels, due to the restructuring of the portfolios in view of the new composition of the MSCI indices which is valid from tomorrow, with the share of Piraeus entering the index MSCI Standard Greece and the share of Terna Energy to exit from the specific index.

O General Price Index closed at 1,312.49 points, down 0.34%.

Intra-sessionally it recorded a higher price at 1,323.61 points (+0.51%) and a lower price at 1,311.73 points (-0.40%).

The main stock market index closed August with a drop of 1.72%, while since the beginning of the year it has recorded gains of 41.16%.

The value of transactions amounted to 453.75 million euros, while 105,326,923 shares were traded.

The large-cap index fell 0.48%, while the mid-cap index fell 0.26%.

Of the high capitalization shares, the biggest increase was recorded by the shares of Ellactor (+4.79%), Quest (+1.77%), GEK TERNA (+1.66%), Motor Oil (+1 .56%) and Autohellas (+1.14%).

On the contrary, OPAP (-2.01%), PPC (-1.75%), Aegean (-1.64%) and Piraeus (-1.24%) shares recorded the biggest fall.

Of the individual indices, the Oil (+1.24%) and Constructions (+0.96%) indices recorded the biggest increase, while the Travel (-1.96%) and Health indices recorded the biggest losses (-1.33%) and Public Utility Services (-1.12%).

Piraeus and Alpha Bank presented the largest volume of transactions, trading 56,119,575 and 15,464,474 shares, respectively.

The highest transaction value was recorded by Piraeus with 178.89 million euros and Terna Energy with 107.60 million euros.

38 stocks moved up, 60 down and 19 remained stable.

The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Frigoglass +9.70% and Intralot +9.38%.

The biggest drop was recorded by the shares: ‘Ilyda -4.26% and Elastron -4.15%.
