The president of the Spartans denounced extortion and behind-the-scenes tactics by his deputies – “They want to get their hands on state funding,” he said about his deputies – All eleven deputies “returned” the accusations of mafia practices and guidance to him with a joint statement – A Modern Nightmare characterize V. Stigas the deputies he deleted
The war between the Spartan MPs and the party president Vassilis Stiga is in full swing: For the first time in parliamentary history, a party leader was alone in the Plenary Chamber and while he himself was to take the floor. A little later, however, and again for the first time in the annals, a party leader denounced his own deputies from the floor of the parliament, to then proceed to delete three of them. All eleven, however, subsequently turned against him, and with their joint statement “returned” the accusations of mafia practices. President and MPs are in the trenches, since the battle with the shadow protagonist of the imprisoned convict as a leading member of a criminal organization has not yet been decided Ilias Kasidiaris, the human, that is, which Stigas had hastened to please the same night of the entry of the Spartans into the Parliament.
Stigas, speaking to parliamentary editors, denounced blackmail and behind-the-scenes tactics by his deputies – and mainly by the three he deleted – aimed, as he said, at his own political manipulation, but also at state funding of his party.
In a short conversation that Mr. Stigas had in the Parliament with the parliamentary editors, he stated that he was neither manipulated nor guided by anyone, nor did he ever have any consultation with Ilias Kasidiaris, while he left open the possibility of withdrawing his support for the candidacy for the office of the mayor of Athens and announced a press conference, in which, as he promised, he will talk about everything and by names.
Justifying the deletion of his three deputies from K.O. of the “Spartians”, Mr. Stigas accused them of taking the lead in the situations created in the party.
The entire conversation with the parliamentary editors was as follows:
Vassilis Stigas, president of “Spartiats”:
“Inside the Parliament, the situation became unbearable. There are many things I haven’t talked about yet. I have never been manipulated and led by anyone in my life. They always said I was the front man, the straw man. What I said that I am not and there was no agreement with Mr. Kasidiaris both before and after the elections, I meant it. I wasn’t lying. Therefore it is others who do these jobs and do worse jobs. I am not of that category. I am a family man, with principles and values in my life and therefore now, at the age of 59, I am not going to do other things…
What I said about mafia, cosa nostra and corleone, i mean it.
Some things are subject to prosecutorial investigation. Like blackmailing an MP and taking it from him, that’s something.
I clarify, it does not concern all MPs of the party. There are possibly honest ones. The ones I deleted are the ones who pioneered other things. And among them was that they insisted on a conference. Here the country is burning, people, properties, we have open national issues, digital identities, a thousand and two problems this place has and they are asking for a conference. In the name of God and the Virgin Mary, that is. But if it was something simple I would say OK, let’s do it.
Q: It is rumored that some MPs are giving money to Mr Kasidiaris from their parliamentary compensation…
Vasilis Stigas: I will stop and stay there. There are some MPs who are between wear and tear. Yes, but…they are worried. Because the other road leads elsewhere. I would not like to expand. Probably tomorrow I will give a press conference and there I will answer all the questions. And of course I will say names. I dont have a problem…
Q: Do you have evidence for what you are saying?
Vasilis Stigas: The facts I have are what I know and see.
Q: Do you think you have at least 4 other MPs joining you to be able to keep the party going?
Vasilis Stigas: Yes and no. For there are certain people who think of certain things and are between decay and incorruption. That is, to follow the other road that leads somewhere else or to follow Vassilis Stiga who at least, if nothing else, is honest and wants to do some good things for the country.
Q: You said there are some things that need a prosecutorial investigation?
Vasilis Stigas: The conference is from the sly.
Q: Do they want to get their hands on government funding?
Vasilis Stigas: Exactly. As I am a first time in Parliament, what I know is that when a party receives state funding, it gives a reason. I messed up these, these, and these. I don’t intend to do anything else. I get a parliamentary allowance. It’s enough for me, I don’t want anything more in my life, I want to offer the country and the people, clear things.
Q: What is the procedure, is there in the constitution for the change of party leadership and the removal of the leader?
Vassilis Stigas: There is no procedure. The scenario was that they want those of the thousands of members, – I definitely don’t have that many members – to put them in and suddenly raise the issue of a leader, because this was said at the beginning, and let’s move on. First of all, I must accept them, it must be done upon request, and I must check if it is written in another party or if it is criminal, etc.
Q: Does your support for Ilias Kasidiaris as a candidate for the Municipality of Athens still remain after what happened in your party?
Vassilis Stigas: Regarding Mr. Kasidiaris, let me make it clear in principle that we are not related. What I did on Sunday I did consciously. On Monday we had a meeting of K.O. On Sunday I was determined to close the accounts. And I mean, you supported me and I supported you and we’re done. Until there. Since it was published that I was pressured to support Kasidiaris, I make it clear that I was not pressured by anyone.
Q: Does your support for Mr. Kasidiaris remain or not after all that was created in your K.O.?
Vassilis Stigas: The Municipality of Athens is the most damaged municipality in the country. Mr. Bakoyannis, we all know that he is inadequate as a mayor and a politician. He has destroyed Athens. I will answer the press conference about several things. I don’t want to say anything else…
Q: Is there a possibility that you, personally, will withdraw your support for Mr. Kasidiaris?
Vassilis Stigas: I usually don’t take anything back in general.
Q: You said they want to get their hands on the party’s state funding and parliamentary compensation. In other words, someone called you or Mr. Kasidiaris and told you to give me half the money…
Vasilis Stigas: I don’t want to talk right now. There are serious issues, you will hear them all at the press conference I will give. Know one thing, and I speak to you honestly and from my heart, that I have been very patient these two months. Since the day we were sworn in as MPs, because I have no other office besides the Parliament, I have been on my feet for 12 to 15 days every day and no one has respected anything. There is a member of parliament who I ask where you are and he tells me in the fields, the other has a restaurant. Did you understand what’s going on? No one has understood its institutional role. I didn’t refuse to talk to anyone. My office is upstairs.”
Q: You, as the president of the party, had you been informed about the cooperation of your MP with a relative (brother) of Mr. Kasidiaris?
Vasilis Stigas: Of course.”
What do the three expelled MPs answer to Stiga?
The confrontation of the “Spartan” MPs with the president of the party, Mr. Stiga, was brought to the parliament’s peristyle. The three members of the party’s parliamentary group, who were deleted by decision of the president, Mr. Stigas, made statements against the president, maintaining the tension that has taken on the character of a “tsunami” and directly threatens the unity of the “Spartans”, if not the has now been irretrievably undermined.
Giannis Kontis:
Greek society has known me for more than 20 years. There is nothing of what Mr. Stigas says. I am a public figure and I do not deserve the title of mafia figure. I don’t allow anyone to characterize me like that. I will certainly not leave it like that, I remind everyone interested that I entered the Parliament with the votes of 200 thousand votes
It is shameful for a party president to say such things.
We asked for the formation of the party’s bodies, as the statute provides. That’s all we asked for, as we had every right to do. We had not raised the issue of a president, we had not raised the issue of a grant. I should note that we did not know that we are entitled to and have received a grant, the money went into the fund, a lot of it, and we did not know it.
Personally, I wanted to go down with the Greeks, justice did not let me and I went down with the “Spartans”. He remained in the party, we are members of the party.
Ioannis Dimitrokalis
Stigas refused to implement the statute.
He then adjourned the open conference. He told us to find them down here and agree on them in an office. We will go out to every District and write members to the “Spartans”, the party belongs to no one…It belongs to the 250,000 voters and to no one person. The rest will be discussed in court
Charalambos Katsivardas
Mr. Stigas carried out a quasi-coup d’état. He despises the voters as a quasi-modern dictator. Mr. Stiga with unfriendly characterizations succeeded against elected members of parliament. It has a modern nightmare role. Even if we are independent, we honor the Greek people
