Entrepreneurs in the commerce of the capital of São Paulo opened 2022 with optimism to expand their business and hire employees, but the advance of the ômicron could disrupt expectations in the coming months, evaluates FecomercioSP.

The January numbers were still positive, however, the horizon brings uncertainties in view of the slowdown in consumption and the low perspective of growth in economic activity this year.

The confidence index of commerce entrepreneurs for January – which considers the perception in relation to the segment, their company and the country’s economy – recorded the eighth consecutive increase, with an increase of almost 22% compared to the same period last year. , according to a survey by the entity. In relation to December, the growth was 2.1%.

The optimism to expand business also rose 2.3% in the monthly comparison, the same percentage of advance in the indicator that measures expectations for hiring workers.

According to FecomercioSP, store inventories show signs of normalization, even in the face of the effects of the lack of retail inputs. In comparison with January 2021, the index grew 17%.
