Kostis Hatzidakis’s post in detail
“Today we announced that from November 1, 2023, the VAT for agricultural machinery will be reduced from 24% to 13% and a new, reduced rate of 4% will be established for works to remove obstacles for disabled people to access buildings of public interest.
This targeted reduction is made, taking advantage of the possibility given by the European Union to deviate from the stipulated VAT rates, in a very limited number of services and products.
It is also a reduction that should have, based on European rules, a relatively small fiscal cost.
Our farm machinery intervention comes at a time when our farmers need support, especially those affected by unprecedented natural disasters.
Of course, we don’t claim to solve all their problems this way. But surely this initiative of ours will be another weapon in the effort to restore production more quickly in Thessaly and the other regions facing problems.
In addition, the new rate for works to remove obstacles to access buildings of public interest will contribute to further strengthening the accessibility of people with disabilities.
It is an issue for which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself has practically demonstrated his interest since he assumed the government of the country.”
Avgenakis: “Our goal is to reduce production costs and strengthen the primary sector”
“The government, faithful to its programmatic commitments, is proceeding to reduce the VAT on a series of agricultural machinery,” said the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis.
“Our goal is to reduce production costs and strengthen the primary sector. In a particularly difficult period, we are creating the conditions to support the agricultural profession. In this way and with other, parallel decisions, we also support the Greek region”, he added.
