Brazilian agribusiness executives are more optimistic about the performance of the global economy than about the scenario for the activity in the country in 2022. This is what a survey released this Tuesday (1st) by PwC indicates.
For 77% of agribusiness executives interviewed in Brazil, the world economy should accelerate this year. This share drops to 57% when it comes to optimism about the country’s growth, according to the survey.
The picture mainly reflects the macroeconomic instability experienced by Brazilians, said MaurÃcio Moraes, partner at PwC Brasil. This factor was pointed out by 57% of the sector’s executives as a concern for this year.
“The assessment is that we are experiencing instability in Brazil, which was pointed out as the main point by the respondents. Macroeconomic instability causes less optimism,” said Moraes.
The data is part of the 25th edition of PwC’s Global CEO Survey, which surveyed more than 4,400 executives in 89 countries. Of this group, 4% are Brazilians from different sectors, including agribusiness.
The numbers related to agro are similar to cuts already produced by PwC with other sectors.
In the financial services segment, 81% of Brazilian CEOs are betting on global growth this year. The share drops to 52% among those forecasting an improvement in the country’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2022.
In the sector classified as consumption, 82% of Brazilian CEOs project global growth this year. The share drops to 63% of Brazil’s GDP in 2022.
According to PwC, the confidence of Brazilian agribusiness executives increases when the focus is on the growth of their companies.
For 74% of industry leaders, revenues tend to advance this year. The level is higher than the average of Brazilian executives in general (63%).
“Agribusiness is very important for Brazil and its representation in the Brazilian GDP has been increasing year by year, generating wealth and attracting investments throughout the chain, mainly in technology. The optimism is more than justified by the results that this industry has been obtaining in years”, said Moraes.
