Samples were taken immediately from the 24-year-old, says the Thessaloniki Police – Detailed announcement

The Thessaloniki Police issued an announcement regarding the actions taken in the case of the 24-year-old who complained that she had been raped.

According to him, from the first moment of the complaint, the police officers of the competent pre-investigation service handled and continue to handle the case with due diligence and care, taking into account its seriousness, while they immediately carried out all the necessary pre-investigation actions to secure critical evidence.

In particular, the incident was reported from the 24-year-old noon hours of 1/1/2022 at the White Tower Security Department, while on the same day, in addition to the other pre-investigation acts, the following actions were taken:

Urine samples were taken from the victim, after she was given in consultation with the Forensic Medicine Service of Thessaloniki, two sealed urine collectors, who were previously examined macroscopically by police officers of that Service, as there were suspicions of drug or other drug addiction. The above urine collectors were kept in a cold environment (refrigerator) in a safe place, always according to the instructions of the Forensic Medicine Service, until Monday, January 3, which were delivered to the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of AUTh.

The necessary clothing of the victim was confiscated, which was sent to the forensic laboratories of the Greek Police, to explore and detect any biological material.
As provided by the relevant legislation, a written note was issued to the patient for her forensic examination by the Forensic Medicine Service of Thessaloniki.

During the forensic examination, which took place the next day (2/1/2022) at the Forensic Medicine Service of Thessaloniki, (5) five swabs were obtained with smears of the disease for determination of biological material (DNA), which were delivered to us on 03/01/20. 2022 and were sent to the competent laboratories of the Directorate of Criminological Investigations of the Greek Police, for laboratory expertise.

It is noted that all the samples taken during the investigative procedures until they are sent to the competent laboratories, were stored in a cold environment (refrigerator) in safe areas of the above Service, always according to the instructions of the Forensic Service.

The relevant report of the Directorate of Criminological Investigations was received this morning (1/2/2022), in a sealed envelope and delivered the same day to the 5th Regular Investigation Office of the Criminal Court of Thessaloniki.

Also, from the laboratory of forensic medicine and toxicology of AUTh. The report of toxicological examinations was delivered today (1/2/2022) to the same Office.
