The new president of Fiesp, Josué Gomes da Silva, begins to signal the direction he intends to give the entity after taking office in the place of Paulo Skaf.
At the board meeting this Monday (31), the businessman showed concern about the tax issue and invited economist Vanessa Canado to advise Fiesp on the matter. The idea is that it will help to subsidize the construction of a tax reform proposal.
Canado served in the Bolsonaro administration as a special adviser to Economy Minister Paulo Guedes and worked on all of the government’s major tax reform projects before stepping down early last year.
Today, she is part of the economic committee of Governor João Doria’s (PSDB) presidential campaign, which also caught the attention of industrialists who are watching the definition of a new profile in the presidency of Fiesp after Skaf’s 17 years at the helm.
In addition to being more linked to President Bolsonaro, Doria’s political enemy, Skaf also had personal disagreements with the toucan since the 2018 campaign, when they competed for a spot at Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
Josué’s proactivity with the tax issue pleased industrialists who saw in the gesture a sense of urgency in the face of the problem.
In 2019, the name of Vanessa Canado, then director of CCiF, a think tank of economist Bernard Appy whose studies based the former PEC 45, was even quoted to take over the Federal Revenue.
