They presented an increase of 696 million euros in September 2023 the deposits of households and private non-profit institutions, compared to an increase of 439 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change remained unchanged at 3.7% compared to the previous month.

According to data from the Bank of Greece, deposits from businesses in the same month increased by 1.5 billion euros, compared to a decrease of 249 million euros the previous month, while the annual rate of change remained unchanged at 2.6% compared to with the previous month.

So, in total, private sector deposits showed an increase of 2.23 billion euros, compared to an increase of €190 million in the previous month, while the annual rate of change remained unchanged at 3.4% compared to the previous month. On the contrary, the deposits of the State (General Government) decreased by 1.3 billion. euro.

On the lending side, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses in September 2023 was positive by €2.054 billion, compared to a negative net flow of €322 million in the previous month, and the annual rate of change increased to 4.9% from 3.0% in the previous month.

In particular, Mr annual rate of change of financing to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 4.7% from 2.4% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was positive by 2,213 million euros, compared to a negative net flow of 297 million euros the previous month. The annual rate of change in the funding of insurance companies and other financial institutions eased to 6.6% from 8.5% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was negative €160 million, compared to a negative net flow of €26 million the previous month.

Also positive by €34 million was the monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non-profit institutions in September 2023, compared to a negative net flow of €67 million the previous month. The annual rate of change in their funding was -2.3% from -2.4% in the previous month.

Overall, the annual rate of change in total private sector financing increased to 2.1% from 0.9% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was positive by €2,140 million, compared to a negative net flow of €405 million in the previous month.

Finally, the monthly net flow of financing to general government, in September 2023, was positive by €1,026 million, compared to a negative net flow of €165 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in general government funding rose to 2.6% from 1.6% in the previous month.
