The government is proceeding with an 8% increase in the Minimum Guaranteed Income, according to a Joint Ministerial Decision, signed by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zacharakis, Interior Niki Kerameos, National Economy and Finance Deputy Minister Athanassios Petralia, Labor and Social Security Adonis Georgiadis, Digital Dimitris Papastergiou of Governance.

As stated in the KYA, the amounts are restructured with an increase of 8% and amount to 216 euros for those applications that will be approved from 1.12.2023 instead of 200 euros per month for a one-person household, 108 euros instead of 100 euros for each additional adult member and 54 euros instead of 50 euros for each minor member. The maximum guaranteed amount is 972 euros per month, regardless of the composition of the household.

In addition, the increase in the guaranteed amount also affects the income criteria for inclusion in the program. Specifically, the declared income of the household, as calculated for the purposes of inclusion in the program, in the last 6 months before submitting the application, it cannot exceed the following amounts:

  • For a single-person household 1,296 euros (against 1,200)
  • For a household consisting of two adult members or a single-parent family with one minor member €1,944 (versus €1,800)
  • For a household consisting of two adults and one minor member or a single-parent family with two minor members €2,268 (versus €2,100)
  • For a household consisting of three adult members or two adults and two minor members or a single-parent family with three minor members €2,592 (versus €2,400)
  • For a household consisting of three adults and one minor member or two adults and three minor members or a single-parent family with four minor members €2,916 (versus €2,700)
  • For a household consisting of four adult members or two adults and four minor members or a single-parent family with five minor members €3,240 (versus €3,000)

As noted, the six-monthly income can no longer exceed the amount of €5,832 (compared to €5,400 before the increase), regardless of the number of household members. Therefore, in addition to the increase in the amount received by the beneficiaries, an increase in the number of beneficiaries is also expected.
