Amazon Nearly Doubles Q4 Profit, Raises US Prime Prices

Amazon shares, which fell nearly 8% at the close amid the broader market slump triggered by the Meta, reversed and jumped 12% post-trade after the results were published. The company has announced a price increase for Prime, its fast shipping and media service. Annual subscription fees for the service in the United States last rose four years ago. Analysts said it was time for a raise to cover the company’s rising costs in recent months.

The monthly fee in the US will increase from $12.99 (R$68.87) to $14.99 (R$79.47), and the annual contract from $119 (R$631) to $139 ( BRL 737) from February 18th for new members.

With more than 200 million members worldwide, Prime is an incentive for consumers to shop more on Amazon.
