According to the data of the Bank of Greece, travel traffic through airports increased by 11.7%, while that through road border stations by 36.7%.
In the period under review, travel traffic from EU-27 countries amounted to 16.7 million travelers, showing an increase of 15.0% compared to the corresponding period in 2022, while travel traffic from non-EU countries -27 increased by 21.2% and amounted to 10.8438 million travelers. Travel traffic from euro area countries increased by 10.0%, while travel traffic from EU-27 countries outside the euro area increased by 25.2%.
In particular, travel traffic from Germany increased by 6.5% and reached 3.8 million travelers, while that from France increased by 5.3% and reached 1.6 million travelers. With reference to countries outside the EU 27, travel traffic from the United Kingdom increased by 0.8% to 3,882.4 thousand travelers and that from the USA by 32.6% to 1,108.0 thousand travelers. Finally, travel traffic from Russia decreased by 3.8% and amounted to 30.1 thousand travelers.
Regarding the distribution of revenues, receipts from residents of EU-27 countries increased by 11.7%, and amounted to 9.9 billion euros, as well as receipts from residents of non-EU-27 countries by 18.3%, which amounted to 7.5 billion euros.
In more detail, the collections from residents of the euro zone countries amounted to 8 billion. euros, increased by 12.0%, while receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries outside the euro zone showed an increase of 10.5% and amounted to 2 billion euros. In particular, receipts from Germany increased by 4.4% to 3 billion euros, while receipts from France increased by 10.6% to 1.3 billion euros. From the countries outside the EU-27, receipts from the United Kingdom rose by 6.8%, reaching €3 billion. Receipts from the USA increased by 13.5% and amounted to 1.11 billion. euros, while those from Russia decreased by 23.8% and amounted to 28.0 million euros.
