Opinion – Time machines: Jeep Renegade 2022 arrives with turbo flex engine in all versions; see prices

by

The Jeep Renegade undergoes its first major change in Brazil. The 2022 line arrives with the new 1.3 turbo flex engine (185 hp), which equips all versions. The 1.8 flex and 2.0 diesel options were discontinued.

The external look, however, has changed little compared to the model launched in 2015 and updated in 2019. The main difference appears in the front, with new headlights and enlarged bumpers.

The equipment list includes six airbags and an autonomous braking system on all versions. In the event of an imminent collision or being run over, the car is able to stop.

The price starts at R$124,000 for the Sport option, which features a six-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, electrically-assisted steering, 17-inch alloy wheels, a multimedia system with a touchscreen and three USB ports. Windows, mirrors and door locks are electrically operated.

The following options are the Longitude (R$139,000) and the 4×4 in S and Trailhawk configurations, both sold for R$163,300 and equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

To avoid problems related to consumer rights, Jeep says that the first 11,500 units have guaranteed prices.

The brand has been questioned by recent launches, whose advertised values have increased before Compass and Commander units are delivered to pre-booked buyers.

This also occurred with Fiat Pulse –Jeep and Fiat are part of the Stellantis group–, which led the company to be notified by Procon-SP.
