Be it the…celebratory frenzy, be it the lack of information, since this year is the first time that this specific support measure has been applied, the fact is that applications for the electricity heating allowance go with their…

Indeed, and only 11 days before the closing of the platform, only 1/5 potential beneficiaries have sent their application. The last update on Sunday afternoon spoke of 245,000 applications out of a total of 1.2 million beneficiaries!

The amount is not insignificant – it ranges from €45 to €480 – and combined with the cheap tariffs offered by providers due to increased competition, they can ensure that the cost of electricity for the first quarter of 2024 will be at the same level with the pre-energy crisis period.

The electricity allowance is granted for the period from January 1 to March 31, 2024 for the electricity consumption of the beneficiary’s main residence regardless of whether it is owned, leased or granted free of charge. It will not be paid in cash but as a discount on the electricity bill – settlement or against – regardless of the provider (even if it changes)

The income and property criteria are the same as those for heating oil:

INCOME

Up to €16,000 for a single person, €24,000 for a couple and €29,000 for a single-parent family

with an additional €5,000/child

Up to €80,000 for freelancers and the self-employed

PROPERTIES

Up to €200,000 for singles

Up to €300,000 for married and single-parent families

The following are excluded from the granting of the allowance:

Those who applied for heating allowance with oil purchases
Dependent members and guests
Those who pay luxury living tax
Commercial roofs
Foreign tax residents
Beneficiaries of a social household tariff

In their application through the AADE myThermanis platform, the beneficiaries will be asked to fill in, among other things:

VAT number of the applicant but also of the lessor or the free grantor (if any)
Full name
Number of any dependent children
Electricity supply number
Postal Address
Tax identification number of the person to whom the bill is issued
Name of supplier who issued the last available bill
Email adress
Telephone Number

After the application, AADE checks the information and sends it to DEDDIE, which in turn communicates it to the suppliers in order to apply the subsidy to the bills in the form of a discount

Two more beneficiaries cannot declare the same benefit number and one VAT number cannot make more than one application.

In case of rejection of the application or granting of a benefit smaller than the one requested, it is possible to dispute the results of the processing and to submit a review request by the interested party to the AADE until July 15, 2024.

The review request is made through the digital portal myAADE/Registry and Communication/Questions to A.A.D.E./ subject category “Heating Allowance” and is accompanied by the reasons documenting the objection.
