Of the total of RES installed in the Greek energy system with a total capacity of 11.5 GW, 7.5 GW – i.e. approximately 65% - were connected by DEDDIE to its Network.
The current Network Usage Charges (XXD) of DEDDEE cover the additional costs of creating fire protection zones and monthly metering of electricity consumption, “which is expected to keep CRCs at their current levels“, says DEDDIE in tonight’s announcement.
As he explains:
-DEDDIE has submitted to the FSA a request for a review of its annual approved income, which includes additional income in the category of non-controllable expenses, namely about 40.3 million euros, of which about 24.4 million euros pertain to additional expenses for the fire protection zones and about 15.9 million euros in the additional cost of the monthly count.
– The creation of fire protection zones is aimed at DEDDIE meeting its legal obligations for the safe and uninterrupted supply and operation of the Distribution Network, strengthening its resilience and security against the ever-accelerating occurrence of extreme weather events.
– The monthly counts aim for DEDDIE to effectively respond to the needs for the redesign of the energy market and the recent changes in the pricing framework of consumers in the competitive part of the market.
With reference to the influence of DEDDIE on the prices of the domestic energy market, it is also emphasized that the rapid connection of new RES to the Distribution Network had beneficial effects for the Greek economy, in a particularly difficult period.
“The connection of 2.1 GW of RES from June 2021 to September 2023 in the Distribution Network, resulted in savings of 0.645 billion euros during the energy crisis from holding down electricity prices, and another 1.179 billion euros from avoiding natural gas imports and the associated cost of CO2 emission rights.
Of the total of RES installed in the Greek energy system with a total capacity of 11.5 GW, 7.5 GW – i.e. approximately 65% - were connected by DEDDIE to its Network.
Finally, it should be noted that during this period, approximately 18,000 RES applications with a total capacity of 1.78 GW are in the final stage of connection to the Network”, concludes the Administrator.
