The increase in household and business deposits in December exceeded 3 billion euroscompared to the previous month, with the result that their total stock will be 146.6 billion euros in 2023, from 141.6 billion euros at the end of 2022.

At the same time, according to the data of the Bank of Greece, an increase of 3,292 billion. euros presented, in December 2023, business deposits, compared to a decrease of 747 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 1.6% from -1.6% in the previous month.

In particular, MXE deposits increased by 2,650 billion euros, compared to a decrease of 625 million euros in the previous month.

Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased by 642 million euros, against a decrease of 122 million euros in the previous month.

Total private sector deposits rose by €6.3bn in December compared to a €900m drop in the previous month, while the annual rate of change rose to 3.1% from 2.4% the previous month.

On the contrary, general government deposits showed a decrease of 1,060 billion euros in December 2023, compared to a decrease of 27 million euros in the previous month, and the annual rate of change was -14.6% from -8.3% in last month.

On the loan side, the monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was positive by 3.894 billion. euros, against a positive net flow of 792 million euros in the previous month, with the result that the annual rate of change of the total financing of the private sector was 3.6% from 2.8% in the previous month.

In particular, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses in December 2023 was positive by €3.799 billion, compared to a positive net flow of €777 million in the previous month, and the annual rate of change increased to 6.9% from 6 .0% last month.

In particular, the annual rate of change in financing of non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 5.9% from 5.1% in the previous month.

The monthly net flow of their financing was positive by 2.881 billion euros, against a positive net flow of 85 million euros in the previous month.

The annual rate of change in the funding of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 15.7% from 13.8% in the previous month.

Their monthly net funding flow was positive by €919 million, compared to a positive net flow of €692 million the previous month.

Finally, the monthly net flow of financing to individuals and private non-profit institutions was positive by €1 million in December 2023, compared to a positive net flow of €7 million in the previous month.

The annual rate of change in their funding was -2.0% from -2.3% in the previous month.

Regarding the financing of the State, the monthly net flow of financing to the general government, in December 2023, was negative by 1,118 billion. euros, against a positive net flow of 572 million euros in the previous month.

The annual rate of change in general government funding eased to 0.7% from 3.1% in the previous month.
