Hatzidakis: We defend the defenseless citizens, not the EFKA minorities

by

With the Minister of Labor, Kostis Hatzidakis, stating that “the government is proud of the deep and substantial cut in efficiency it makes in the most problematic and long-suffering public insurance organization” and the Opposition as a whole, to speak of “authoritarian practices” with the ultimate goal The privatization of the insurance system, the discussion in the first reading of the bill for the modernization of EFKA was completed in the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament.

“You are defending the minorities in EFKA and we are defending the defenseless citizens,” Labor Minister Kostis Hatzidakis told the Opposition, rejecting the allegations of unconstitutional provisions.

At the same time, he accused her of “empathy and party fanaticism that leads her to ignore a series of provisions that facilitate the citizens”, among which are, as she said:

– The abolition of the pre-registration of non-employees in EFKA with the start of the activity, which facilitates the process of starting or change in the Tax Office.

– The choice of insurance company for insured with dual capacity that facilitates doctors, lawyers and engineers.

– The coverage of the insurance contributions by the state for the companies that were closed due to the snowstorm “Elpis”.

– The provision of insurance awareness for debts under 100 euros to the EFK that concerns 130,000 citizens.

-The arrangement for 10 additional paid days to the parents of children with rare diseases.

“Even in self-evident provisions without party color, fanaticism and empathy prevent opposition parties from having a good conversation. “Because they have adopted a toxic political discourse that isolates them from the average voter,” said Mr. Hatzidakis.

Responding to the objections of the Opposition that the competent bodies called to the Commission themselves denounced the bill and demanded its withdrawal, Mr. Hatzidakis spoke of “selective reports”.

“You are deliberately hiding the fact that there were bodies such as the TEE, the Medical Association, the Economic Chamber, the ESEE and an Association of Pensioners who were in favor of the bill,” he noted.

Responding to the strong disagreements of the opposition MPs about the new way of announcing the positions of the executives, he underlined that for the already heads of EFKA, for whom there is a negative crisis, the provisions of the Civil Service Code will apply and they will return to their organic positions.

“There are places for citizens. Not for us, nor for the EFKA employees. “You support the few, we go with the many,” he said.

Finally, he rejected the objections for “privatization” of the real estate of EFKA due to the establishment of a special purpose company, noting that it is a public company with EFKA as the sole shareholder.

“In this bill, you are stuck in favor of the interests of certain minorities in EFKA. And that makes us different. You support the minorities of EFKA, we support the Greek citizens. This is our main difference “, concluded Mr. Hatzidakis.
