With high gains of 4.48%, the stock market closed the week ending, breaking upward and the levels of 1,450 points, recording a 13-year high, specifically since the session of April 15, 2011.

The total capitalization of the market in the last session of the week exceeded the levels of 100 billion euros, levels that had been “seen” since the beginning of November 2009, when the index was at 2,400 units.

The Greek stock market ranks seventh in terms of returns worldwide, among international markets.

The market this week found support in the upgrade of the Greek debt outlook from stable to positive by Standard & Poor’s, which places Greece in the anteroom of another substantial upgrade in the next 12 months.

Also in the good progress of fiscal figures, as a surprise surplus was announced for 2023, reaching 1.9% of GDP.

Adding to the positive developments was Greece’s new exit to the markets with a 30-year bond, with the markets giving a new strong vote of confidence in Greek bonds by offering 33 billion euros.

The high profitability of listed companies also supports stock valuations. The flow of corporate results now reinforces the estimate of exceeding last year’s historical performance in operating and net profitability of listed companies, for the year 2023.

The General Price Index closed the week at 1,454.98 units, against 1,392.62 units the previous week, marking a weekly increase of 4.48%. Since the beginning of April it has increased by 2.29%, while since the beginning of 2024 the main stock market index has recorded gains of 12.52%.

The FTSE/ASE 25 large-cap index closed the week with gains of 4.88% and since the beginning of 2024 is up 13.48%. The FTSE MID mid-cap index closed up 3.99% for the week, with a year-to-date gain of 4.39%.

The banking index closed the week with a rise of 7.57%, while since the beginning of 2024 it has gained 19.53%.

The total value of transactions in this week’s sessions was €673.541 million, while the average daily value of transactions was €134.708 million, up from €135.627 million last week.

The total market capitalization this week increased by 4.134 billion euros and reached 100.393 billion euros, while since the beginning of the year it has increased by 12.505 billion euros.
