The trial concerns the prosecution brought at the beginning of the month, following an investigation carried out by the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Georgia Adelini
On June 19 the trial of the 11 deputies elected with the “Spartians” was determined, before the Three-Member Court of Misdemeanors, by Ilias Kasidiaris as well as a lawyer, accused in the case of voter fraud in the elections of last June.
The trial relates to the prosecution brought earlier this month, after an investigation carried out by the prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adeline on the occasion of statements by the head of the party Vasilis Stiga who is not a defendant. In the background of the case of the “Spartians” is Ilias Kasidiaris, convicted for the criminal organization Golden Dawn, who according to the data of the judicial authorities was the hidden leader of the party.
The 11 accused members of parliament, who were elected with the party “Spartiates”, are facing the crime of voter fraud, while according to the prosecution brought, the incarcerated Ilias Kasidiaris is accused of moral complicity in the deception. At the same time, a lawyer is accused, who participated in the contacts of the candidates for parliament at the time with the imprisoned former parliamentarian, who is accused of complicity in deceiving the voters.
The prosecution against Kasidiaris as a moral perpetrator, i.e. as a hidden leader of the “Spartiates”, he relied on data from the research of Mrs. Adelini, of which continuous contacts of mfrom prison with “Spartan” MP candidates whom he illegally directed and controlled as it is prohibited by law for anyone convicted of a criminal organization.
The file on the case began to be formed last September, when Vassilis Stigas denounced behind-the-scenes actions within his party. The prosecutor of the Supreme Court then started an investigation that she conducted herself. Mr. Stigas testified twice to Ms. Adeilini, who called both the party’s deputies and Ilias Kasidiaris for explanations. At the end of the investigation, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court gave an order for criminal prosecution.
The next decision of the Court of Justice for the “Spartiates” party will be the most critical, as it concerns the judgment of the Supreme Special Court which, as the Electoral Court, adjudicated the appeals that have been made regarding the legality of participation in the Parliament, of the Spartan party.
