The Minister of National Economy and Finance was in Volos today Saturday Kostis Hatzidakis as part of his tour to Thessaly, but also for the anniversary of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the New Republic and during his speech in a central hotel in the capital of Magnesia, he referred to the Prime Minister’s recent announcements about the support package for Thessaly after the catastrophic floods last September.

Mr. Hatzidakis, addressing the agricultural community, emphasized that “farmers have already received compensation amounts in their accounts. A very large majority of the funds that were specifically committed through ERGANI for the farmers of Thessaly have already reached their pockets, and approx. 200 million euros have reached the farmers of Thessaly. Next week the subsidies from the European Union will be given to our farmers. Until the end of April for the farmers of Thessaly either from compensations or from other sources of support will have been given fund of 600 million euros”.

Kostis Hatzidakis also referred to the difficult times experienced by the residents throughout Thessaly since the apparitions and emphasized that “the memories of everything I saw in those first days in the 4 regional units of Thessaly are always deeply etched in my memory. It is the direction of the Prime Minister that we deal with these issues with absolute priority, not only for political, economic and social reasons but also for mainly deeply human reasons”.

In the late afternoon Kostis Hatzidakis also visited the town hall of Volos and had a meeting with the mayor Achilleas Beo where during the meeting the issue of funding for a series of projects was again discussed, especially those related to the restoration of damages from the floods of last September.

Earlier, Mr. Hatzidakis also visited the Port of Volos Organization and said that the restoration of the great damage suffered by the port from the bad weather will be done in a period of one year, so that the large cruise ships can again approach the piers of the port Volos, since the bottom rose in many cases even by two meters from the mud and transported materials.

The Minister of National Economy and Finance is accompanied to the capital of Magnesia by the Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, and the candidate for the European Parliament, Giorgos Autias.
