The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, Giorgos Pitsilis, participated in the meeting of the FTA Bureau (Forum of Tax Administrations) of the OECD, last week, in Paris
The digital and organizational transformation of tax administrations is the topic of the annual OECD forum that will be organized this year, for the first time, in Greece.
The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, George Pitsilis, participated in the meeting of the FTA Bureau (Forum of Tax Administrations) of the OECD, last week, in Paris, together with the heads of the tax administrations of the USA, UK, France, Canada , India, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Chile, Norway, Sweden and Singapore.
The main topic of discussion was the conference, which will be hosted this year in Athens, from November 13 to 15, on the subject of the transformation of tax administrations.
As Mr. Pitsilis mentioned in his speech, the conference will emphasize the integration of digitization in the organization and operation of tax administrations, with the aim of increasing efficiency in dealing with tax evasion and serving taxpayers.
The aim of this year’s conference is for tax administrations – members of the OECD to exchange experiences and best practices of digital and organizational transformation, with the aim of:
• increasing efficiency, which reduces the administrative burden for citizens and businesses, allowing tax authorities to allocate resources more strategically
• strengthening compliance tools, which minimize tax evasion and fraud and increase revenue collection
• improving trust and cooperation with taxpayers, which are the basis for a more transparent and fair tax system.
The FTA is the largest and most important Organization of tax administrations, operating under the auspices of the OECD, listing more than 50 member countries. Participants share knowledge and develop new ideas for the transformation and modernization of tax administration around the world.
