by

Taxpayers who have Income Tax to be refunded this year will be able to receive the money via Pix, the Central Bank’s instant payment system. The Federal Revenue released this Thursday (24) the rules for the declaration of income tax in 2022. The first batch of refunds will be paid on May 31.

There will still be the option of payment by checking account, the one that is informed in the final step of filling out the declaration.

The deadline for submitting the 2022 Income Tax return will be from 8 am on March 7 to April 29.

According to the Federal Revenue, the adoption of Pix will facilitate the payment of refunds, as it also makes it easier to change the account to credit the amounts. With the instant system, the tax authorities hope to reduce the need to reschedule credits due to invalid accounts or incorrect numbers.

To use Pix to receive the IR refund, the taxpayer must have a Pix key with his CPF. The other keys, which use email, phone and a random number, will not be allowed.

The refund money will be paid between May and September.

The national supervisor of the Income Tax program, José Carlos da Fonseca, said that the inclusion of Pix as a means of receiving the refund does not change the priority rules for releasing the refund. Rather, they receive the elderly, people with disabilities or serious illness, and teaching professionals.

The main advantage of using Pix is that it eliminates the need to include information such as agency and account. The money will be sent to the account linked to the CPF.

“There are taxpayers who change banks and then after a while he wants to receive the refund at another bank and then he had to look for the IRS or rectify the statement, not now”, said the tax auditor.

Darf for those who have tax to pay

Pix can also be used to pay off the Darf (Federal Revenue Collection Document), used by taxpayers with tax payable.

For those who decide to schedule automatic debit of tax quotas, it will be necessary to send the IR declaration until April 10th. The first installment expires on April 29.

The taxpayer who is obliged to declare and delays pays a minimum fine of R$ 165.74, which can reach 20% of the tax due in the year.
