And he adds: “Inflation in our country recorded a particularly noticeable drop from 3.2% in April to 2.3% in May. Greece has the 6th lowest inflation in the Eurozone, in which harmonized inflation against Greece rose from 2.4% in April to 2.6% in May.
Food inflation, which directly affects households, also recorded a fall. As estimated by the European Statistical Service, in Greece it decreases from 4.8% to 2.4%, the lowest level of the last three years, from July 2021.
The specific performances recorded by Eurostat are a consequence of the interventions made by the Greek Government and proof of their effectiveness.
With a series of structural and control measures – which no other country in Europe has taken – we limit as much as possible the consequences of accuracy. A problem that is not only Greek, but has European dimensions”.
The Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas said about it:
“We are shielding Greek households by increasing incomes, continuing market controls and taking structural measures that correct chronic structural pathologies. We are not complacent, we continue unwavering until shelf prices stabilize and de-escalate.”
