The bulk of FTI group’s customers were headed to Crete and Rhodes – The holiday packages of visitors from Germany to our country from the company in question have already been paid or prepaid
The holiday packages of visitors from Germany to our country by FTI have already been paid or pre-paid, so the risk of non-payment of hoteliers and other involved businesses has been avoided, sources from the Ministry of Tourism and the EOT report on the occasion of bankruptcy of the German tour operator FTI.
According to the same sources, it is estimated that the number of travelers in our country amounts to 7,500. These travelers will be able to complete their holidays and return to Germany as normal, unaffected by the FTI bankruptcy.
As reported, the EOT and the relevant departments of the Ministry reacted immediately, and at this stage they are collecting data in order to make specific, substantiated announcements.
It is emphasized that relevant contacts have already been made by the EOT office in Germany, while EOT officials are in contact with the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers (POX) and the representative of FTI in Greece.
It is reported that in the event that individual problems and incidents of malfunction are identified, the services of the Ministry and the Tourism Organization are ready and coordinated to contribute directly to their effective treatment.
It is noted that FTI is insured against insolvency through the German Travel Insurance Fund (DRFS).
According to the information from the Association of German Travel Agents DRV as well as the official statement from FTI, this means that the payments made – the entire price of the trip if already paid, as well as advance payments – are protected in the event of insolvency. This applies to customers who have booked a package holiday.
The DRSF is now responsible for processing in the event of insolvency, in close cooperation with the affected organizer. This means that the DRSF is responsible, on the one hand, for refunding the travel price paid to affected customers and, on the other hand, for any necessary repatriation of visitors.
According to the same sources, the bulk of FTI’s customers were directed at 70% to Crete and Rhodes, 20% to Corfu and Kos and the remaining 10% or so covered the rest of the country.
