New record for him Greek tourism this year with 35 million tourists and 22 billion in revenue is predicted for this year in an analysis of the National Bank.

According to the analysis, Greek tourism had a dynamic start in 2024 (with the arrivals of the 1st quarter showing an annual increase of 24%), while almost all of the leading indicators advocate positive omens for the continuation.

Specifically, the future demand index for Greek hotels is at historically high levels, with optimism reflected in record net hiring for the period February-April (+98 thousand compared to +90 thousand in 2023). At the same time, foreign air traffic in relation to the 2023 figures records:

â–ª rise in spring arrivals (of the order of 20%), fostering expectations for a reduction in seasonality,
â–ª increase in the planned positions of the period June-October (+8%), and
â–ª strong demand from independent tourists (+14% in bookings so far).

Taking the above into account, we estimate that 2024 can achieve new records, with tourist arrivals of the order of 35 million (+7% compared to 2023) and improved revenues per tourist, thus leading to receipts of the order of €22 billion (+ 10% compared to 2023) and increase share in the Mediterranean market.

At this point it would be remiss not to highlight the wide range of divergence around our base case scenario (mostly to the downside), due to high geopolitical and climate uncertainty as well as potential turbulence from the bankruptcy of FTI Touristik.
