Panel SA: Clothing industry in Brazil predicts impact of war in Ukraine

by

In the analysis of the potential impacts that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia can bring to business in Brazil, the textile industry believes that the crisis may spill over into the sector.

Fernando Pimentel, President of Abit (an association that brings together from fiber manufacturers to clothing), says that the scenario has already raised the prices of raw materials.

“A situation of destruction, such as a war, does not help. It is obvious that if this escalation becomes even worse, it will impact the world”, he says.

According to him, the tension could indirectly harm the sector due to Russia’s importance in the production of fertilizers, which serve the cultivation of cotton, used in the textile industry.
