OR Russia has reported a growing number of attacks with drones deep in its territory, with some detected nearly 2,000 kilometers from the border with Ukrainefurther testing the country’s air defenses as the war continues, according to Bloomberg.

According to the agency, drones were found in industrial centers in the Urals and in the rich oil area of Tioumen in Siberia.

Ukraine said at the end of last year that its drones were able to hit Russia at distances of up to 1,800 kilometers. However, the Russian authorities have not attributed these attacks with drones in Ukraine and Kiev has not taken responsibility for most of these attacks.

“Ukrainian missiles and long -range drones prove their growing effectiveness,” the Ukrainian president said Volodimir Zelenski In a post on social media after a meeting with Security Head Vasil Maliuk, where they discussed the offensive operations. “We are achieving significant results in the destruction of Russian air defense systems.”

On Wednesday, several industrial companies in the Sverdlovsk region, about 1,700 kilometers east of Moscow, took preventive measures for any drones attacks, according to a report by local authorities on Telegram. These measures included the evacuation of workers and the restriction of internet access, according to local media, although it remains unclear if there was an attack in the area.

Earlier this week, however, officials reported that three drones were destroyed on the territory of an industrial business in the city of Timen, about 2,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. According to local media, sounds from air defense systems were heard near a local oil refinery.

“The extension of the range allows Ukraine to endanger more targets within Russia and further complicates the challenge for Moscow in terms of air defense,” said Douglas Barry, a senior military -based researcher.

Since mid -September, drones have also been intercepted in two locations in the Perm area in the Urals. The goals included an important producer of ammonium nitrate in Berezniki, an essential ingredient of explosives, and the Metafrax Chemicals plant in Gubaha.

“Such distances are feasible” from Ukraine, said Denis Fedutinov, a Moscow -based expert in the field of unmanned aircraft. However, the deeper the drones in Russia enter, the greater the chance that they have been launched by areas outside Ukraine, he added.

In June, Ukraine carried out a series of attacks across Russia, using drones hidden in trucks to hit strategic airports up to eastern Siberia, Bloomberg notes. In a post on social media at that time, Zelenski said that Ukraine used 117 drones with people operating within Russia.
