“Coordinating the action of the services and the cooperation with the consumer movement, citizens and healthy entrepreneurship, we will fight for the fight against profiteering and the de-escalation of prices. At the same time, we will strengthen the promotion of the necessary policies for trade, industry, research, innovation and investment attraction with the aim of contributing to sustainable development and in accordance with the new development model we are creating in our country».

This was stated by Takis Theodorikakos at the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Development, setting the tone for the policy that will follow.

The new Minister of Development noted “I have 38 years worth of hard work in my life. Several of them I have a separate professional activity. So I know the market well. I just want to say to everyone: profit is legitimate, profiteering is not. She must be crushed. Even more strictly and without compromises».

Mr. Theodorikakos, after thanking the Prime Minister “for trusting me with such a great responsibility“, the predecessor of Kostas Skrekas, but also the deputy ministers who will support him, Zoi Rapti and Anna Mani, he emphasized that he is undertaking a “difficult task».

As he said, the Ministry of Development has two major goals that “they are connected to the life of all Greeks and the future of the country. The first concerns the fight against accuracy and the crackdown on profiteering. With the citizens, the consumer movement, the representatives of healthy entrepreneurship and the utilization of services and mechanisms available to the state, we will do everything to fight profiteering and for citizens to enjoy goods at the lowest possible prices»

“The second objective, he continued, is linked to our policies on trade, the development of industry, the strengthening of research and innovation, the attraction of investment. To contribute even more to the country’s evolving productivity model, to sustainable development and to increasing the income of Greek citizens”.

In fact, he emphasized that the policies of the ministry are related to the goal that the government has set for the average salary of Greeks to reach 1,500 euros at the end of the four years.

For his part, the former Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, spoke about a difficult battle fought against accuracy and inflation.
