This year, the submission of tax returns of natural persons according to the AADE is at a record pace.

Specifically, during the 75 days that the declaration submission system is open, 4,510,260 statements have been submitted. In the corresponding period of 75 days in 2023 and 2022 respectively 2,916,726 and 2,695,736 declarations had been submitted, despite the fact that in these years the declaration submission system opened on March 30 and 31, respectively.

These figures demonstrate, on the one hand, that citizens and accountants have submitted their declarations in a much greater percentage earlier than any other time, and on the other hand, that there are no problems that pose significant obstacles to the submission of declarations.

⁠Furthermore, it is pointed out that this year the pre-clearance of declarations was implemented for the first time for 1.4 million taxpayers. Until last year, all taxpayers, whether their information was correct or not, had to submit a declaration themselves. This year, we enabled 1.4 million taxpayers to see the tax they owe with the data we have available for them and, if they see that the data is correct and complete, not to file their return themselves, having at the same time the possibility to modify it until 26/7, without penalties. With this process, 423,000 declarations were finalized, i.e. approximately 30% of the pre-cleared declarations, a result that constitutes a positive development.

At the same time, AADE, satisfying the relevant request of the accountants, for the first time this year undertook the commitment to inform citizens in a timely manner about anything concerning the obligation to submit their declaration, and in particular for changes in the data sent by public and private entities after the submission of the declarations. Consistent with this commitment, AADE has sent a total of over 4.6 million messages to date. In particular, they have been sent:

At the same time, through the IVAN declaration process, 1,706,000 IVANs have been declared since the beginning of the submission of declarations, reaching a total of 7,950,000 IVANs. AADE monitors the process of submitting the declarations, and if deemed necessary, further facilities will be provided for those who have not managed to obtain an IVAN.

Furthermore, for the convenience of citizens, since 21/6, the possibility for citizens to download the declaration, the settlement form (detailed and summary), as well as the pre-clearance for the 1.4 million citizens who joined the process has been added to the myAADEapp application of automated declaration submission. To date, over 470,000 citizens have downloaded the app.

Besides, it is estimated that very important help to accountants the myDATA platform has provided, through which they can verify the issuing and receiving data from the companies they work with. In this way, among others, myDATA is developing into a very important internal control tool for businesses, preventing errors in the submission of tax returns.

Finally, it is pointed out that until today 1,067,658 citizens, with a credit declaration of income, which correspond to 89% of the total credit declarations, have received, earlier than ever, a tax refund or set-off against their other tax obligations, totaling more than 227 million euros.

“We are sure that in the remaining time, citizens and their accountants will speed up their efforts, so that the submission of the declarations will be completed within the time schedule that has been set” is emphasized by AADE. The deadline is over on July 26.
