A 6.5% increase in car sales in the first half of the year shows data from ELSTAT according to which 133,802 cars were released for the first time in this period.

In detail, the new cars released in the first half of the year amount to 84,147 compared to 76,366 released in the corresponding period last year, showing an increase of 10.2%.

Individually in June, however, the car market seems to have slowed down with sales growth limited to 0.9%. New cars launched in June 2024 totaled 15,627 compared to 14,681 launched in the corresponding month last year, showing an increase of 6.4%.

At the same time, the circulation of new motorcycles over 50 cc (new and used abroad) during the period January – June 2024, amounted to 40,878 compared to 35,555 that were released in the corresponding period of the year 2023, marking an increase of 15%. The new motorcycles released in the period January – June 2024 amount to 38,762 compared to 33,607 released in the corresponding period of the year 2023, showing an increase of 15.3%.
