Government eliminates import tax on jet-ski, balloon and airship

by

The Jair Bolsonaro government has zeroed import tax rates on jet-skis, balloons and airships, the Ministry of Economy said on Wednesday (2).

The decision of the Chamber of Foreign Trade, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, will enter into force in ten days.

Today, importers of these products pay 18% import tax.

In December, the government had already authorized the importation of used jet-skis and sailing boats, with up to 30 years of manufacture, claiming that the measure would contribute to boosting nautical tourism.

Also on Wednesday, a reduction to zero in the import tax was published on 30 products for the aeronautical sector, such as printers, cutting machines and telephone sets.

“The tariff reduction aligns the rates applied by Brazil for goods in the aeronautical sector to those recommended by the Agreement on Trade in Aircraft of the World Trade Organization (WTO)”, said the ministry.
