World Table Tennis Federation: Excludes Russian Athletes

Russia is pounding Ukraine, Belarus is its main backing, and the ITTF, fully accepting the ILO’s call for a sports ban on the two countries, said on Wednesday that it would not allow athletes or Russian and Belarusian officials to take part in international events under its auspices.

The ITTF Executive Committee met on March 1, 2022, after consulting the sports community, and decided to follow the recommendations made by the ILO Executive Board with immediate effect.

Therefore, until recently, no Russian or Belarusian athlete or official will be invited or allowed to participate in events hosted by the ITTF Group and no national symbols, colors, flags or anthems of Russia or Belarus will be displayed. Please note that ITTF events are not currently scheduled in Russia or Belarus.

The ITTF Athletes’ Committee has also expressed its deep concern and sympathy and fully supports these decisions.

The ITTF Group will continue to monitor the situation and will reconsider its decision in the light of future developments “.
