The Federal Revenue received, until 17:00 this Monday (7), 130,099 declarations of the Income Tax 2022, which represents 0.38% of the total forecast for this year, of 34.1 million documents. The deadline to declare the IR started at 8 am this Monday and goes until 11:59 pm on April 29.
The total delivered is much lower than on the first day of the deadline in previous years. In 2021, 628,100 statements were sent. In 2020, there were 622,600 on the first day. This Monday, taxpayers faced failures when trying to download the program, which may reflect on the total sent.
However, the number of downloads of the generator program was higher than in other years. Until 5 pm this Monday, 752,500 taxpayers had managed to download it, despite the instability that lasted throughout the day in Meu Imposto de Renda, on the Revenue website. The Meu Imposto de Renda application also had an error and was down all day.
In 2021, on the first day of delivery, 312,200 contributors downloaded it. In 2020, there were 176.6 thousand. According to the Federal Revenue, it was the high number of accesses that caused failures to download the program. However, server representatives say that the error is a reflection of the stampede of servers in December 2021 and the 50% cut in the body’s budget.
“Due to the high number of hits, the download of the program showed instability today [segunda-feira, 7]. This situation is already being dealt with by the technical area”, says a note from the tax authorities.
According to Anderson Novaes, president of the council of union delegates at Sindifisco Nacional (National Union of Tax Auditors of the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil), what is happening are the first reflections of the lack of investment in the Revenue, with the budget cut by the agency in half. to raise the police.
“These are the first reflexes, something that we have already been warning, one hour the breakdown business”, he says. He recalls that the mobilization of employees began at the end of the year because of the budget cut. “The cut was BRL 1.2 billion, that is, we had 50% of the budget cut. Of this total, BRL 600 million was in the area of information technology. With less money, you end up restricting computer systems”, it says.
Taxpayer obliged to declare the IR pays a fine if late
Failures in the program could undermine taxpayer accountability this year. The minimum fine for those who are obliged to declare and delay shipping is R$ 165.74, but can reach 20% of the tax due in the year.
Some news, however, can help those who need to send the declaration. This year, citizens who have a silver or gold level gov.br account will be able to fill out the Income Tax on several platforms.
This means that the taxpayer can start declaring the IR on the computer and finish doing it online, through Meu Imposto de Renda, within the e-CAC (Virtual Service Center of the Federal Revenue), or on the cell phone or tablet.
In addition, as of March 15, the pre-filled IR statement will be available, also for those who have a silver or gold level gov.br account. The estimate of the Federal Revenue is that 10 million users have access to this functionality.
The taxpayer who received taxable income of more than BRL 28,559.70 in 2021 is required to declare the Income Tax 2022, which includes salary, retirement and pension, for example. If you received exempt, non-taxable or taxed exclusively at source income above R$ 40,000, you are also required to declare it.
Those who had transactions on the Stock Exchange, moved to the country in 2021 and were here on December 31, or made a profit from the sale of goods and rights in the year are also on the mandatory list. There are still other rules.
