Gradual discounts of 2% to 4%, for taxpayers who submit their tax returns earlier and pay the income tax in one lump sum, is planned by the Ministry of Finance in the context of arresting the growth rate of unpaid taxes.
According to information, the new regulations that will be incorporated into the upcoming tax bill provide for:
- Scalable “bonus” for timely and one-off payment of income tax based on the early repayment period before the due date.
- The basic scenario provides for a tax deduction for timely tax returns
• 4% if the declaration is submitted 3 months before the expiry of the deadline and the corresponding tax is paid once,
• 3% if the procedure is done 2 months before the deadline,
• 2% if the submission and payment is made in the expiry month.
There is also an alternative scenario according to which the discount amounts to:

The current regime provides for a 3% discount on the total amount of the tax if it is paid by July 31, when the deadline for paying the first installment expires.
According to ERT, the new financial incentives for the one-off payment of income tax will come into force from 2025, so as to weaken the process of 8 installments, which arrive until February of the following year.
At the same time, the plan foresees the establishment of a specific timetable for the submission of tax returns from 2025, without the established extensions, but also the imposition of penalties on businesses and entities that delay the sending to the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) of salary and income certificates. pensions or other necessary elements.
