7 reasons to declare your income tax in the first few days

by

The turn from February to March is the beginning of the school year for Brazilians not only because of the end of Carnival, but also because of the arrival of an uncomfortable visitor: the Income Tax lion.

In March and April, income tax returns are made, which in 2021 covered 34 million Brazilians, according to the Federal Revenue.

This Monday (7), the deadline for submitting the 2022 Income Tax declaration began, which extends until April 29.

Declaring income tax is like washing the dishes: boring, but necessary. Last year, seven million Brazilians still hadn’t sent theirs five days before the deadline.

For the second year in a row, I was able to deliver mine on the first day.

It’s a personal pride and a feeling that I didn’t leave it to study for the test just the day before. Below, I share with the readers of the sheet some reasons that encourage me to be so punctual.

  1. If you don’t do it today, or tomorrow, or next week, you’ll need to do it sometime by April 29th. It doesn’t make much difference, the suffering is the same.
  2. If you have tax to be refunded, the sooner you deliver, the sooner you will receive it. In times of economic crisis, money in your pocket is always welcome.
  3. If the previous year’s statement is on the same computer, the IRS program imports most of the data. If your life hasn’t changed that much, just change the values for 2022 and update a few fields.
  4. The first time is always the hardest. The older you get, the more experience you gain, and the declaration fields become easier to understand.
  5. Your company’s or bank’s income reports are just a click away, either through your home office VPN or through banking apps. Clicked, downloaded the PDF instantly.
  6. Google and YouTube are increasingly accurate. Any questions, just type it in the terms as they appear in the Federal Revenue and the chance of a page or a video clarifying the issue is quite high.
  7. Economy. If you learn to make your own, you don’t need to spend on an accountant ever again — at least to declare IR.
