Unilever and L’Oreal leave Russia

Unilever and L’Oreal were added to the list of multinationals leaving Russia on Tuesday.

The British consumer goods giant Unilever announced that it was suspending all imports and exports of its products to Russia, as well as advertising spending.

“We will not invest further funds in the country nor will we benefit from our presence in Russia,” CEO Alan Jope said in a statement on Tuesday. However, Unilever “will continue to supply daily Russian-made basic food and hygiene products to people in the country,” he said.

The company owns many well – known product brands, including Ax, Ben & Jerry’s and Dove.

The largest cosmetics company in the world L’Oreal It also suspended new Russian investment on Tuesday, and temporarily closed its stores in Russia. “We strongly condemn the Russian invasion and the war in Ukraine, which is causing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people,” the French company said in a statement.

Both companies have suspended operations in Ukraine to focus on the safety of workers and their families, and have each pledged to spend 5m euros on relief efforts in the country.
