The European Commission today disbursed 1 billion euros from the Recovery Fund to Greece, from the grant arm, following the successful completion of the 4th payment request submitted at the beginning of June.

After this development, Greece has now disbursed 18.2 billion euros from the TAA, an amount that exceeds 50% of the total budget of the National Plan “Greece 2.0”, ranking our country in 5th place among the 27 member states .

The payment request for the grant tranche related to the achievement of 20 milestones and targets, which included, among others, the contracting of projects such as the Cyclades electrical interconnection, the renovation of OAKA, the Anti-nero I and II forest protection programs, the improving road safety in the road network of Municipalities and Regions, upgrading the safety of 13 regional airports, as well as reforms such as the Codification of the Income Tax Code and the Tax Procedure Code and the upgrade of the Justice delivery system.

The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finances and responsible for the Recovery and Resilience Fund, Mr. Nikos Papathanasis, said: “The new disbursement from the grants section of the Recovery and Resilience Fund, following the positive assessment by the European Commission of the relevant Greek request, is the culmination of the prudent, decisive and effective effort of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and of all the involved bodies in the implementation of the National Plan “Greece 2.0″. Having now disbursed more than 50% of the total budget attributed to us and raising Greece even higher in the European ranking of disbursements and absorptions of European resources, we are continuing the reforms that the country needs in order to achieve the goal of double convergence, both in terms of salaries with the rest of Europe, as well as in terms of balanced development between our Regions”.

The Governor of the Recovery Fund, Mr. Orestis Kavalakis, said: “Today’s disbursement of resources amounting to almost 1 billion euros for the Grants section of the Recovery Fund maintains and strengthens Greece’s position among the first countries in terms of disbursements of the Fund , having collected more than half of its allocated budget. This is a result of the intensive work done by all the involved bodies for the implementation of projects and reforms important for the development perspective of the country and the improvement of the daily life of the citizens”.
