A meeting with representatives of the Association of Businesses and Industries (SEB) was held on Monday, October 21, 2024, by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos and the General Secretary of Labor Relations, Nikos Milapidis.

The conclusion of the Scientific Committee on the method of calculating the minimum wage and the strengthening of collective negotiations was put on the table.

With this particular meeting, the first round of dialogue opened by Ms. Kerameos was completed, with the participation of all the national social partners, in order to record their positions on the Commission’s proposals, while more detailed positions of the social partners on the proposed automatic mechanism are expected increase in the minimum wage.

The leadership of the Ministry of Labor also met with the president of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), Thanos Thanopoulos and his colleagues, with whom they discussed in detail the creation of the necessary objective indicators, which are included in the mathematical formula for determining the minimum wage.

The minister will then propose to the cabinet a legislative text to incorporate the relevant directive, which will be put up for public consultation. At the same time, this text will be the subject of a dialogue with the parliamentary forces and, then, the final proposal will be introduced to the Parliament for voting and integration into national law.

The head of the Prime Minister’s Economic Office, Alexis Patelis, and the president of the Council of Economic Experts, Michalis Argyrou, participated in the meetings.
