Grandmother has 4 cents of Amounts Receivable and family crowdfunds to avoid disappointment

by

Upon discovering that the Central Bank would release R$ 8 billion forgotten in bank accounts, retired teacher Rita Porto, 93, became anxious. She mobilized her family to update records and go after the jackpot she believed she had. This Tuesday (8), she received R$ 1,000, not knowing that the money came from a crowdfunding made by her children and grandchildren.

As with many Brazilians, Rita Porto was entitled to just a few cents – more precisely 4 cents of “credit installments or obligations”. A truth that the family preferred to hide, to avoid frustration.

In February, when she learned of the possibility of redeeming amounts via the Central Bank, the elderly woman was hospitalized for heart failure in Manaus (AM). She wanted to help pay for medicine, oxygen, physical therapy and the hospital room.

If the money was really good, he still had hope of helping his kids pay for their apartments.
“She recorded the day that the appointment would be, March 7, and warned everyone not to forget”, says her granddaughter, Cristine Porto, 42, a contract analyst.

The consultation of the amounts receivable started this Monday (7). The calendar advances according to the date of birth or creation of the company. Those who access the system before the scheduled day and time cannot know how much they will be entitled to redeem.

Rita Porto was not the only one anxious to receive forgotten values. The system made available by the Central Bank even went offline, due to the flow of access across the country. To request the transfer of funds and know how much money is forgotten, it is still necessary to raise the security level of the account on the gov.br portal to silver or gold.

With the help of her granddaughter, the retiree was able to update the registration through facial recognition.
“We went to visit her on the 7th and she was very euphoric to know the value. That’s when my aunt called saying she wasn’t supposed to tell anything, because the amount to receive would be R$ 0.04”, says Cristine.

At the time we laughed, because she created so much expectation that even we didn’t imagine it would be just that. [4 centavos]. That’s when we decided to get together and open a crowdfunding to give an acceptable value.

That’s when we decided to get together and open a crowdfunding to give an acceptable value.” Five children and five grandchildren raised R$1,000. The money was withdrawn and handed over to the retiree, who was satisfied.

“See how good it is to have forgotten money?”, said Rita Porto when she received the amount, according to her granddaughter, who says that her grandmother would not have accepted the money if she knew it came from the family. “She’s very active and clear-sighted, she doesn’t want to give anyone trouble.”
